I have mixed feelings about days like yesterday. It's the last day of the year and we are getting ready to start fresh in a new year. But, I dread taking down my Christmas decorations for two reasons. 1. It doesn't seem like we enjoy the decorations very long and I miss the glow of the tree lights in the evenings 2. I HATE packing and the clean up. Who's with me? In my case, it was a little easier this year because I didn't really pull out much of my other decorations. I purchased a new flocked tree from Hayneedle.com and found glorious pink and rose gold decorations at Michael's this year.
The ironic thing is that I planned to purge this year, but instead I added another whole color scheme! Well, I did purge some things, but the trick to dealing with it all is organization. Since I have two color schemes, one red/green and the new pink/rose gold, I was inspired by another blogger who reminded me to get those clear long plastic bins. I had some already, so I only purchased one and reorganized the others. I did have my decor in labeled green bins, but as you can imagine, the problem was that after several years, the item on the label was NOT what was in the bin. I need more small clear bins, but I feel pretty good with what I've accomplished so far. I have one large
green bin dedicated to greenery. If you are having a hard time deciding what to
do for your seasonal accent this time of year, just use the greenery with snow, ice crystals, pine cones, etc. in your vases, along your mantel and for table arrangements. It will allow you to get longer use and your home won't feel so bare, during a season when there's very little green outside.
