Hello and welcome to Whimsied & Distressed. I'm Kim, the owner and artist. Thank you so much for your interest in W&D. I have had this little side business for about 5 years. It's hard to believe that time has passed so quickly. If you are not familiar with my story, my decision to start this little venture happened after painting my dining room set. We moved into a townhome and I inherited my Grandmothers crystal and china. So, I needed a hutch to store it all. I found a lonely top to a sideboard at a consignment shop and married it with my sideboard & table/chairs, painted my entire set using Annie Sloan Chalk paint and wax and I was HOOKED! It was the easiest furniture painting I had ever done. Thus, I began seeking out old pieces to revive and make new again!
My degree is in Interior Design from East Carolina University. I've worked in various areas of design, including office space planning, residential design and now showroom construction and development in High Point. I have painted furniture for years as a hobby. I am inspired by so many furniture artists around the world that I get an itch to experiment and create!
I hope that you enjoy browsing my portfolio and either get creative yourself, request a custom painted piece or contact me to assist with your design needs!
Thank you Again,
